Tamelyn Carmon. Sick of the Dark Side

As a child, Tamelyn Carmon had a curiosity about spiritual things. "I was taught you can go to church, but in order to really be saved, you have to be baptized. So, I think I moreso got baptized out of fear, not really totally giving my heart to the Lord. I didn’t want to go to hell," Tamelyn tells The 700 Club. As she got older, she longed for the freedom she didn’t have at home. "I couldn’t wait to go off to college to get wild and do whatever I wanted to do. I wanted to just go out to the clubs because I had never done that." She met a young man who shared her interest in spiritual things. "I met this guy. He was into psychics, casting spells, and candle worshipping. I was like, 'Wow,' because I was always curious, I was sucked in a little more. So I just kept on going to psychics and just reading about mysticism, alchemy, and secret, dark practices," she remembers.

Her attraction to the dark side consumed her and took a toll on her body "I started feeling sick. I couldn’t do much of anything. I started losing interest in my normal activities. I started going to doctors. I was getting tests, and they said nothing was wrong. I even got a catscan because I thought something had to be wrong." But the doctors couldn’t find anything. Tammy was so sick that she left college her senior year to focus on getting better. "It just felt like the life in me had been sucked out. In actuality, my physical being was being abused because of what I was doing spiritually. Tammy remembered some of the things she learned as a child at church. I realized that in order for me to be fully delivered, I had to fully give myself to God. I couldn't do the new age stuff and call myself a Christian. It can’t work that way. You can’t serve two gods." Tammy reached out for help...

"I know that prayer works and so, one time I called The 700 Club and I was like, 'I’m feeling terrible.' I told her a little bit about the story and she was like, 'What is your relationship with Jesus like?' I couldn’t really explain what my relationship with Jesus was." Tammy gave her life to the Lord that day and saw results in her life almost immediately. "I began to get back on track. I began to get my energy back. I was able to finish school," she says... Tammy went on to graduate from college and today, she is a science teacher. Looking back, she knows that what started as a mild interest in magic turned into an obsession that almost ruined her life. "It’s nothing to play around with. You’re opening up yourself to dark spirits. They make it seem like it’s so enlightening, but no, you’re actually opening yourself up to hell," she says. After years of studying mysticism and the occult, Tammy found the fulfillment she was looking for in Jesus Christ. "By the grace of God and mercy and prayers, I was able to get back on track. There is no other way. And I know for a fact because I tried, studied, and read other ways. But Jesus is the truth and the light."
